Volunteer and Mentoring Opportunities at Wellspring House

Volunteers are key to the success of Wellspring's education and training programs. We have volunteers who come several times a week to teach a class, we have volunteers come once/semester to teach a specific module, we have volunteers who assist the classroom teacher by giving individual attention to students who need it and we have volunteers who tutor individual students. If you would like the satisfaction of contributing to increasing someone's skill level, please contact Sarah Grow to find out the full range of possibilities.

Volunteer Opportunities Available: Wellspring Cape Ann Families

Wellspring Cape Ann Families, the family support and education center of Wellspring House Inc., relies on the generous help of volunteers to provide our programs and services to the community. Several volunteer opportunities are available. Here are a few examples of how volunteers can join our team and make a difference.

Child care
Parents who participate in our programs often bring their children (birth and up) to our onsite childcare room, 28 Emerson Ave. Volunteer child care providers are needed year-round on Monday nights, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.; Friday mornings, 10:00 to 11:30 am.; Tuesday nights from mid-October to January and/or occasional special events or as back-up support when a worker is sick.

Teen Role Models
High school students who would help facilitate the youth piece of our Strengthening Families Program are needed this fall. Teens will assist the program facilitators and act as role models for the program participants, ages 10 to 14. Teen volunteers are needed for seven weeks starting in October, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Teen Mentors
Teen volunteers serve as mentors to youth, ages 5 to 12. After a 12-week training program to be held this fall, teen mentors will be matched with a child for weekly visits. Our staff provides weekly supervision for mentors following the training.

Newsletter mailing
Wellspring Cape Ann Families publishes a newsletter in July, September, November, January, March and May and we need help coordinating this bulk mailing. Approximately eight hours per month. Volunteer one day or two half-days during the first week of the month.

Parent Mentor
Visit a local parent weekly, fostering a relationship and providing support. Volunteers make a one-year commitment to serve as a parent mentor. Training and supervision provided by our staff.

Group Facilitators
Adult and teen volunteers needed to help our staff facilitate the family Nurturing Program, mid-October to end of January, meets weekly on Tuesday evenings 5:15 to 7:45 p.m.

Family Focus Team

Special Event Assisatance
During February and April school vacation weeks, Wellspring Cape Ann Families (WCAF) hosts community events that sometimes need volunteer support.  It’s a great opportunity for teenagers or adults to begin volunteering at WCAF.
